Vineyard walks: An immersive experience touring the local winegrowing areas
While sauntering through vineyards and beautiful stone villages, look out in amazement over a pristine landscape gently touched by human activity. We'd like to share with you a sampling of our favourite Saône-&-Loire vineyard discovery walks.
Discovery of the Montagny appellation
From Montagny-les-Buxy, follow the Balthazar indications on Montagny's instructional wine path (a marked 4.5-km hiking trail through the vines for a richer understanding of the local winegrowing landscape). You'll enjoy a unique breath-taking panorama overlooking the Côte Chalonnaise vineyards before focusing on the tasting step.

Discovery of the Mâcon-Igé appellation
Follow Gaston and Isabelle along a 6-km marked path amidst the 6 geographic "Climats", each given a very enticing name, through the Igé village's vine-covered parcels. A walk designed with views in mind, during which the Mont-Blanc range should enter your field of vision repeatedly! Upon completion, push open the doors to the Fichet, Vignerons d'Igé and Roches estates: the owners will be most pleased to share with you their passion for the wines grown right here, whose grounds you've just stomped on (respectfully), and just as importantly propose a tasting!

Discovery of the dedicated Mercurey trail
Head out on one of the marked "Green Outings" hike, this one 7.9 km in length. Upon arrival at the Statue of the Virgin on the hill overlooking the lush landscape, a panoramic tourist information panel exposes the entire Mercurey vineyard. Be prepared for a wonderful spectacle!

Discovery of the Haut-Mâconnais vineyard
Up for a more athletic vineyard visit? Leave Lugny on an electric Segway scooter (seriously!) accompanied by a local winemaker-guide. You're assured of a completely original and environmentally-friendly outing to discover this area's estates and varietals. Reservation required through the Mâconnais-Tournugeois Tourist Office (Phone: +33 (0)3 85 27 00 20).
Discovery of the Couchois vineyard
Launched by the Couches Castle, discover an amusing game that requires use of a geolocalised digital tablet! Head out on an 8-km "hike over Hill and Vine" to become better acquainted with the specificities of the Couchois vineyard. Upon completing the circuit, you'll return to the chateau for an oenological tasting session of the estate's production with expert commentary. An entertaining and edifying activity for youngsters, but especially appreciated by their parents.
